Winter Wedding Accessories & Style

Twinkle lights, the joy of the holiday season, the sparkle of fresh snow, pink sunsets, and the return of the auroras are just a few reasons to consider a winter wedding here in Alaska. This may also be a time of year our out-of-state friends and family have not yet seen. The beauty of our state does not end with summer!

Embrace the magic of the season with our winter wedding accessories and ideas.

From a style perspective, a winter wedding opens up a whole array of accessories that would be out of place with a summer wedding.

  • Rock your boots! Keep your piggies warm from home to venue and of course while we’re out in the snow for photos. Remember the toe-warmers and you will be waltzing in the snow before you know it.  Have your girls rock their boots with you and let’s turn those bridal party photos into a fashion shoot!
  • Beautiful faux fur or velvet wraps, cloaks, capes, and coats (and not just in white) are terrific ways to both keep warm and look chic. Remember to give your bridesmaids a little love (and warmth) by selecting coordinating faux fur wraps for them. This style combination makes for wonderful photos in the snow! Include some hand-warmers in your pockets to help stay toasty.

  • Gloves, oh how I love thee! A beautiful pair of gloves is just so Audrey Hepburn, so stylish, and so elegant. A quick search online will turn up many options where you are sure to find the perfect pair for you.
  • Sparkle, sparkle, and more sparkle. Ladies, this is no time for delicate jewelry. Let your sparkle and accessory diva out to play! Furs, velvets, heavier lace and brocades call for larger pieces while shorter days and sparkling snow beg for colored gemstones, sequins, and crystals.
  • Give a nod to vintage by carrying a hand muff. Carrying one of these brings images of horse-drawn carriages and drivers sporting top hats. This is another fantastic winter wedding accessory for photos!

  • Keep a basket of pashminas, wraps, scarves, and throws handy for out-of-town guests that may not have checked the weather before arriving and they will love you for it!
  • Remember your smackers. All that talking, eating, drinking (and kissing), is going to dry your lips. Keep them protected and looking pout perfect for photos by stashing balm in handy places.

  • Not every winter wedding has to have a Christmas theme! Resist the temptation of poinsettias or red roses and try mixing flowers in other colors with evergreens for bouquets and arrangements. Adding metallic accents, berries, small pinecones, and other winter elements creates a unique arrangement without becoming cliché.

We know that there are many brides out there that love the magic of this time of year and we can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Happy Planning,
