Besides the photos (and your spouse), your wedding bands will likely be the only other items from your wedding day that you will see and live with daily in your “happily ever after”. We are assuming the engagement ring is already sparkling on the bride’s finger (YAY!) and so it is important that the bands you choose not only compliment your engagement ring, but also each other, be a style you will not grow tired of, and especially in the case of a groom, be durable. We will also add one more item to the list… be within your established wedding budget.
The fall back choice for wedding bands tends to be the gold band but we encourage you to take this opportunity to pick bands unique to you. There are many more choices for wedding bands today and we have highlighted some of the options available to mix and match for couples below:
Materials |
Styles | Embellishments |
Gold (White, Yellow, Rose) |
Classic | Diamonds |
Platinum |
Shaped & Contoured | Gemstones |
Titanium |
Mixed Materials | Man-Made Stones |
Palladium |
Matched to Engagement Ring |

Cobalt Chrome | Modern |
Engraving/Carving |
Tungsten Carbide | Eternity |
Metal Finishes |
Wood | Multiples/Stacked |
Ornate Stone Settings |
Sterling Silver | Vintage |
Scrollwork |
Online resources are available that cover the pros and cons of the various materials provided above, along with their expected costs. We suggest visiting idea sites such as Pinterest to narrow down a particular style that appeals to you and then armed with that and your allocated ring budget, visit a reputable jeweler to discuss options that are right for you. In addition to their inventory on hand, they have the resources to either order in or even customize bands that will be unique to you! If you are like us and love all things pink and girly, perhaps pink diamonds or sapphires in a vintage inspired rose gold band is your thing. If you like your bands classic, consider an inscription on the inside band that only you and your honey know about. Have some fun and consider customization!
The rings featured above are from Michael’s Jewelers in Anchorage, Alaska and we appreciate them going out of their way to help us get them camera ready!
