Hello again Elegante Brides! I bet you are like us in wondering when we will see the end of this rain! Could we be the next Seattle? Sheesh! We love a great Alaskan landscape portrait as much as you but between the bare trees, muddy trails, brown grass, clouds, and rain, finding a lovely image outside is a challenge this time of year. With renovating our studio and wedding season, we ended up procrastinating on our own portraits until shooting outside wasn’t an option for the elegant theme we had planned (party dresses among bare trees in the rain isn’t really our look). Solution… Selfies in the Studio!
You may think that two wedding photographers could whip out a selfie in their sleep but there is a good reason why you will find us BEHIND the camera. Sure, from a technical aspect, a selfie is not much more complicated than a normal portrait. We can use a remote shutter or the timer on the camera but what we like best is to use an App that allows us to view live on our smartphone what the camera sees. The process takes a little coordination because like most girls, we have a strange fascination with seeing ourselves on our phones. It’s like we can’t look away even when the shutter snaps! Most of the resulting images from our selfie session ended up belonging on the bloopers real because each blooper snapped seemed to lead to another.
Needless to say there was a lot of giggling but wouldn’t you know, that laughter is what led to our favorite image, and the one now featured on our “About Us” page. Something magical happens when we relax and become ourselves in front of the camera. Suddenly a portrait becomes a story. It is this magical moment that we as photographers look for and put ourselves out there to earn from our clients. We know it is only when you trust, relax, and enjoy your time with us that you will share that magical moment with our cameras.
