Get your wedding day glow on!

Elegante Light Photography Wedding Face Envy Blog

We haven’t met a bride yet that doesn’t want to look her absolute best on her wedding day so this week we are excited to be talking with Rita Cluff, the in demand owner/aesthetician extraordinaire of Face Envy of Anchorage. Rita offers many advanced treatment options such as laser and DermaPen micro-needling for acne, scars, aging, hair removal, and more in addition to providing spa services such as waxing, chemical peels, permanent makeup, and overall skin wellness plans. Rita teams up with Angie Tolbert, RN to also make available Botox and injectable filler treatments at Face Envy.

Here are Rita’s recommendations when asked what brides can do to get their glow on:

If you are not already under the care of an aesthetician, book a consultation with one as soon as you have your wedding date. Skin care, similar to what we learned about fitness, is not something you want to wait until the last minute to address. This becomes more important depending upon your age and current condition of your skin. I hate to say this ladies, but the hard truth is that if you have been neglecting your skin care for a while, you’re likely going to need to invest some time and effort into reversing the effects. The good news is that there are some fantastic treatments available now that (almost) work miracles if started early!

At your consultation, you and your aesthetician will discuss your “glow” concerns, problem areas, realistic goals, a skin care plan, a treatment plan, and timing. For acne issues, you may establish a plan that includes chemical peels with IPL laser treatments to stop overactive oil production and to sanitize and mattify skin. If you want to tighten and bring the glow back, you may build a plan to include Botox or fillers, DermaPen, IPL laser treatments and chemical peels. If getting rid of the hair that grows in all the wrong places is your concern, you may want to explore laser hair removal. If you are young and lucky, you may simply need a good skin care plan and a light chemical peel.

PRO Tips:

  • Start your treatments early. Even a brow “rehab” takes time to grow out the bad or over-plucked areas.
  • Do not have any advanced treatments performed (such as injectables, laser, etc.) within 1 month of your wedding day. Unforeseen reactions or bruising can occur with any procedure.
  • Do not have any spa treatments performed (such as a mild chemical peel or waxing) within 2 weeks of your wedding day. Even mild spa treatments can trigger unforeseen reactions from time to time.
  • Many treatments require a series of appointments and most treatments take 3-4 weeks to see their best results so schedule them appropriately so that you are seeing the maximum effect on your wedding day!
  • NO LAST MINUTE EXPERIMENTING!

Don’t forget the finishing touches! Your aesthetician can help you decide if the hassle-free option of permanent make-up is for you. Not interested in something so, well… permanent? Perhaps explore the option of tinting your eyebrows and lashes. Speaking of lashes, remember to discuss your available options for showing off that gorgeous fringe on wedding day. Will you be using a lash growth serum, having lash extensions put on, using faux lashes the day of, or going old school by layering on the mascara? Your choices will also depend upon how early of a start you made on getting your glow on.  And of course, your aesthetician can help guide you to make-up that both works with your skin type and condition, but also flatters and lets you get your glow on!

With so much to think about while planning your wedding, we encourage you to remember to make time in your schedule to take care of yourself, early and often!  If you would like to contact Rita to schedule a consultation to get your glow on, you may reach her at 907.360.7482 and visit her website at www.akfaceenvy.com.

Happy planning!
