What do I mean by “monument”?

A wedding is an event that needs to be commemorated and celebrated. What better way to do this for your wedding day? We travel and visit historic sights all over the globe, why not do the same for your love story? You deserve this! You deserve to showcase your love story! This is a trip I recommend visiting often.
Planning a wedding is not simple or cheap, and purchasing your wedding album stretches your budget. Even though they are one more thing to add to your long list of items to budget for, you should consider having one. It’s not just for you, but for your children, grandchildren to relive the story of where it all began.
It’s Fun
I remember digging through all my grandparents’ family photos as a child, my grandmother telling us stories from the past. She would tell me about family members that were no longer with us and telling us all about her and grandpa’s young days. I had to imagine most of it because, unfortunately, she only had 1 image from the day, and it really did not illustrate their story. Now we can easily illustrate every grandparents’ story.
It makes me so happy to hand-design wedding albums for my clients so that their future generation can flip through the pages of their story one day. It’s much more fun to turn on each physical book page than clicking next on each image in an online gallery.
Technology is always changing
We all know that this is a fact. We all know how crazy fast technology is changing. A few years ago, wedding photographers (myself being one of them) proudly delivered couples their final images on personalized USBs and even DVDs. Now computers don’t even come with ports or drives to open those media. Now for my couples to access their images from those media, they have to purchase a separate adapter and device to connect to their computer. In 40 years, do you think they will still have those adapters and devices to retrieve that data if it even still functions (that’s another story I will address in a future blog)?
I know that planning a wedding is not simple or cheap, and you probably think that opting for the most expensive photography package is not what you should do. However, even though wedding albums are costly, you should consider having one. Think about your children and your grandchildren, for example. Having a wedding album is a great way to tell your story, the love story of how your family began.
Quality to last
You planned your dream wedding for months. You spent several thousands of dollars on your special day. So why not show it off? I get that sharing your images on social media is a great way to share your beautiful day with all your friends and family, but just like technology, we don’t know how long these websites and apps will be available. Remember MySpace, Periscope, Flicker, Photobucket? They may still be there in some capacity, but they are definitely not like they were. The same could happen to Facebook, Tiktok, and even…Instagram!
Also, albums make for great coffee table decor! It is even its own interactive art piece with an acrylic cover that begs to be picked up by guests. Guests can flip through the pages of your wedding album and relive one of the best days of your lives. Those who were not there can see how beautiful and detailed your wedding day was. Finally, it’s a great way to get conversations started for introverts.

I can’t emphasize this enough… there is beauty in quality! You spent a large chunk of your wedding budget on professional photography.
